With the advent of robotics, companies are increasingly automating the manufacturing process with computerized or robotic machines that can handle repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently. Industrial automation solutions can also complete mundane or dangerous tasks that the workers do not want to do.

Recently, Siemens (News - Alert) revealed that the Simatic CP 1543-1 communication processor from the Siemens Industry Automation Division safely connects the Simatic S7-1500 controller to Ethernet networks.

With its various advanced features, the new SIMATIC S7-1500 controller sets new standards for maximized productivity. This is advantageous to small series machines and also complicated deployments that place high demands on speed. For maximum engineering efficiency, the SIMATIC S7-1500 is seamlessly integrated in the Totally Integrated Automation Portal (TIA (News - Alert) Portal).

The new communication module safeguards individual S7-1500 stations or even complete automation cells against unauthorized access by bringing together numerous security features such as an SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) firewall, password requests and data encryption protocols such as FTPS and SNMPv3.

Siemens provides industrial communication products and systems, which provide improved efficiency. The company also offers advanced components like SIMATIC NET (News - Alert), which make use of proven standards. This enables users to deploy powerful, integrated data networks that are “future-proof.”  The company’s comprehensive industrial communications solutions enable efficient integration of all company areas into one coherent system from simple sensor connecting to plant wide quality and productions data acquisition and transmission.

In 2010, Daimler AG selected CAD Software from Siemens as the standard for its global vehicle development. Daimler completed its implementation of Teamcenter which will serve as the company’s product data management backbone.
