In a recent move to bolster its international presence and place in the VoIP gateways space, Patton (News - Alert) appointed Aveek Roy to lead business development in the South Asia sector of the telecom market.

Roy is a veteran of the telecom industry with 10 years of experience in the communications infrastructure space having worked to support the development and expansion of India’s networking solutions for carrier and enterprise VoIP. He will ensure Patton’s extended reach into the market whiel based in New Delhi, India.

While focusing on driving Patton’s “go-to-market strategy and future revenue growth for South Asia,” Roy will strive to, “serve the region’s real needs,” he commented. “Patton builds exactly the right sort of equipment—at the right price points—to solve the network infrastructure challenges India and its neighbors face today.”

India, and the South Asian telecom industry in general, is in the midst of growing exponentially with government-sponsored as well as privately-backed plans for increasing the use of VoIP technologies. India is reportedly planning on launching a 3G spectrum, which will naturally cause broadband use to skyrocket.
