When you think connections, do you think enterprise communications? You do if this is one of your core priorities for management during any given day. Your focus is likely on reliability, the quality of the connection, bandwidth, security and VoIP. Fortunately, you now have access to enhanced security options as well, thanks to a recent certification from Tadiran (News - Alert).

The company has announced that Ingate’s SBC “SIParator” has been certified for Aeonix. This move enhances Tadiran’s customers’ options for session border control (SBC) security and authentication. The company recommends that its clients add a certified SBC for remote SIP users and ITSP connections to ensure the necessary security and functionality.

Digging deeper, Aeonix is a state-of-the-art Unified Communication and Collaboration (UC&C) system. The security in this solution is not a simple add-on, but is instead built into the solution components off the shelf. The value here is that it can’t be turned off and on at will, delivering the necessary security and protection for enterprise communications at all times.

Still, even the best of the solutions at hand can’t protect the network from hackers if they aren’t properly deployed and those managing the system don’t know or understand the threats. Access for hackers could easily be allowed, making the solution ineffective. No solution is 100 percent when it comes to keeping out those with less than honorable intentions, but certain measures should still be a priority to mitigate and contain known risks.

These risks include snooping, which leads to identity theft. Information captured can be used to launch a service threat or even a Denial of Service attack; eavesdropping wherein the listener is seeking signaling and media streams to obtain data; theft of service where the user leverages the system to generate calls to premium numbers or as a means to provide toll service for hackers; and Denial of Service where a full or particle migration of the system is completed by blocking various elements or resources, rending the system ineffective.

Understanding these threats and how they can impact enterprise communications is an important element in ensuring the seamless experience. It’s not enough to have the system in place – it needs to have the right components to protect users and the network in order to deliver the anticipated value. Tadiran and Ingate help by delivering the solutions necessary to prevent these attacks and keep the system operating as expected and users connected at all times.
