AudioCodes Mediant 850 Multi-Service Business Router Boasts Consistent Performance

By Rory Lidstone, TMCnet Contributing Writer

AudioCodes (News - Alert) — a provider of VoIP technologies, products and services — today launched a new product: the Mediant 850 Multi-Service Business Router (MSBR). This highly integrated device offers branch resiliency and consistent performance of converged data and voice traffic, addressing the needs of small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and enterprises with flexible WAN access capabilities, multiple dedicated processing resources and enhanced Power-over-Ethernet (PoE).

The Mediant 850 MSBR builds on AudioCodes' field-proven technologies of advanced data routing and voice processing, enabling operators and service providers to expand their range of business services and form a single managed point of demarcation at a customer's premises. Furthermore, this MSBR is able to provide consistent performance by using separate dedicated processors for data, VoIP, signal processing and applications.

"As service providers increasingly focus on converged voice services, the release of the Mediant 850 MSBR fortifies our business services portfolio," said Nimrod Borovsky, VP of Marketing at AudioCodes. "The ability to manage and provision a wide range of advanced services through a single CPE device, over multiple forms of connectivity, while maintaining consistent data and voice capacities, puts service providers in an excellent position to attract new business customers."

The Mediant 850 MSBR features FTTx optical fiber architecture, which is compliant with the Ethernet in the First Mile standard, while its optical fiber interface allows service providers to connect customers to Metro Ethernet access networks. By supporting multiple broadband WAN technologies — including copper and fiber optics Ethernet, as well as SHDSL, VDSL and ADSL —the Mediant 850 extends AudioCodes' standalone survivability.

Recently, AudioCodes' family of Enterprise Session Border Controllers (E-SBC) received validation from the ShoreTel  Innovation Network, allowing them to be deployed alongside ShoreTel (News - Alert) Unified Communications systems.

Meanwhile, AudioCodes recently announced the reporting date for the third quarter of fiscal year 2012: November 5, 2012. On that same date, the company will hold a conference call to discuss its results.
