Ipswitch Compares its Growth to Honda

By Eve Sullivan, TMCnet Editor

Ipswitch (News - Alert) Messaging is taking on a Honda-like approach by offering a planned-out and proven messaging solution for small to mid-size businesses.

Ipswitch says it offers reliable, scalable, versatile and affordable products with the features that businesses have come to expect, without the high costs of Exchange.

Today, challenges face the automobile industry as the price of gas sets record highs and consumers flee pick-ups and SUVs for smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles. After losing $8.7 billion during the second quarter of 2008, the Ford Motor Company recently closed its Michigan Truck/SUV plant for 10 weeks and invested $75 million into the factory to prepare for small car production.

Meanwhile, Honda (News - Alert) has focused on slow-but-steady growth with popular cars like the Civic and Accord. John Medel, VP of automobile operations at Honda, said its plants can switch back and forth almost instantly from one model to another. For instance, a plant in Ohio that makes Accords also builds the Acura TL luxury sedan.

The company has been able to satisfy demand for Civics and Accords due to its flexible factories and will continue to do that until TL sales rebound. “We can reprogram it to make it build more Civics,” Mendel said. “That’s by far one of our competitive advantages.” Medel says the company is well-positioned for rising gasoline costs because it emphasized on small, fuel-efficient vehicles and says, they're "not geniuses," they're consistent.

Ipswitch says by giving customers an affordable, award-winning product that meets their flexible demands, IMail Server makes transitioning from Exchange as painless as possible with its Exchange Migration tool. Ipswitch Messaging also offers advanced anti-virus protection and instant messaging.

Just as Ford discovered, short-term solutions are never easy. A properly configured, well-planned e-mail archiving system can alleviate the burden of managing growth in e-mail storage and retrieval, the company says.

Ipswitch’s two archiving solutions, MailArchiva and Sonian Hosted Archival Systems, work in conjunction with IMail Server to archive all incoming, outgoing and internal e-mails for companies of all sizes to meet the stringent compliance issues they face.

Ipswitch believes they are better positioned than the competition in terms of the products they offer for the SMB environment. Whether you prefer the control of an in-house system or the advanced features, services and management ease of a hosted solution, IMail Server provides a reliable experience for you and your users.
