E911 Hosted Solutions Feature: RedConnect Answers E911 Service Needs for SMBs, Schools

Thanks to the growing need to protect employees, citizens and students, alike, more and more organizations and businesses are deploying new technologies, such as Enhanced 9-1-1, or “E911” solutions.
 
As public safety has become a top priority for businesses, education facilities and municipalities, users need a solution that is flexible and affordable. And 911 ETC, an Everett, Wash.-based E911 hosted solutions provider, said its RedConnect solution fits the bill.

 
RedConnect provides small businesses, cities and schools with an affordable, full-service E911 implementation. It gives users the means to offer exact location information to emergency responders in the event of an emergency.
 
Already, 911 ETC, which relaunched RedConnect last month, is reporting an uptick in the number of cities, schools and small businesses that are taking advantage of the service. 911 ETC’s all-inclusive service and monthly maintenance assistance are just some of the reasons for the company’s success, officials said.
 
Unlike other E911 services, RedConnect’s versatility to offer users a customized solution, including smaller-sized businesses, sets the product apart.
 
For example, the Charles Wright Academy, a private Washington state-based independent grade school for students in pre-K through 12th grade, implemented 911 ETC’s E911 solution to better protect staff and students during potential on-campus emergencies. The school consists of several buildings spread across campus. To make things easier on first responders, officials integrated 911 ETC’s RedConnect to integrate with the academy’s new Avaya PBX (News - Alert) site administration.
 
RedConnect is also useful in a college setting. With two campuses spread apart from one another, National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Ore. sought 911 ETC’s E911 hosted solution to help emergency responders arrive at the correct location in the event of an emergency call. The university, which has a Cisco (News - Alert) IP switch, needed to distinguish from which campus the call was originating. 911 ETC inexpensively implemented E911 for the college, providing accurate location information for every outgoing 911 call routed to the Public Safety Answering Point.
 
Beyond an educational setting, RedConnect also helped a city with its E911 needs. Although it had only 140 phones, the City of Mountlake Terrace, Wash. needed an E911 solution. Outgoing 911 calls made from any of those phones didn’t provide detailed location information for emergency responders. RedConnect offered city officials the right solution – a full-service E911 implementation at a low price.
 
The city is one example of many municipalities that use RedConnect. The service not only offers a full-service implementation, but also provides ongoing monthly E911 maintenance, a crucial component for users.
 
RedConnect is powered by 911 ETC, which also provides E911 for the enterprise. The solution uses traditional telco emergency routing and is compatible with a PBX, VoIP, or hybrid environment. 911 ETC has hundreds of clients nationwide with its services in place, including Hyatt Hotels, Macy’s, Walgreens, the Social Security Administration, and Rockefeller Center.
