Since the first 911 call 45 years ago, millions of Americans have relied on it to save lives. But with recent changes in communications technology – mobility, IP communications, SMS and more – we are forced to look toward enhanced 911, or E911. For enterprises, E911 can be a daunting (though important) topic, with many large companies wondering if they need to implement E911 hosted solutions. Fortunately for interested parties, there is a new blog that is intended to help people navigate the confusing waters of E911.
The blog, Now Generation 911, is presented by E911 hosted solutions experts at 911 ETC (News - Alert). In the inaugural post, Chuck Stockton promises to leverage the expertise of E911 experts at 911 ETC and industry experts from outside the company. Stockton promises to convey the wisdom and opinions of those experts on a regular basis, helping enterprise telecom users learn about the intricacies of the space.
Stockton himself has more than 15 years of experience in the enterprise E911 space, working to create TDM/PSALI standards and processes, and attempting to influence state and federal guidelines concerning enterprise E911. Stockton has enthusiasm, stating “I love to talk about all this ‘stuff.’ Incessantly. It has come to the point where my co-workers have decided that I should pester all of you with a blog that discusses anything and hopefully everything about Enterprise E911. They said that if I promised to provide the platform, they would contribute as well, and I plan to hold them to that promise often. Going forward with the Now Generation 911 blog, we will attempt to bring to the table interesting news and opinions about Enterprise E911 events and the people who make them happen.”
And we look forward to reading what he has to write!
