U.K.-based Wick Hill will now be shipping Allot (News - Alert) Service Gateway Tera, which is some good news in the SDN market.
According to a press statement, the Allot Service Gateway Tera is a DPI-based platform built to power the deployment of Digital Lifestyle Services in fixed and mobile data networks on the path to software-defined networking (SDN) and cloud-based network services (NFV).
SDN, while a relatively new concept, is being lauded as a game-changer when it comes to networking in general. With SDN, networks and services can be easily customized, operations are improved and performance is increased.
“This is an exciting opportunity for the channel to deliver a smooth migration path toward SDN and virtualization, at the same time as minimizing capital investment,” said Ed Kidson, product sales manager at Wick Hill (News - Alert).
Allot sells mainly to fixed and mobile operators, as well as cloud and managed IT providers, with a growing emphasis on the enterprise and Digital Lifestyle services market.
Allot’s Digital Lifestyle Services, including the Subscriber Management Platform, Security Suite and Video Services help businesses gather intelligence in data networks, empowering operators to analyze, protect, improve and enrich the digital lifestyle services they deliver.
Already four different mobile and fixed line operators worldwide have tapped Allot for Allot Service Gateway (News - Alert) Tera, including a $4M deal announced earlier this year and a $5M deal announced earlier this month.
“Our modular platform architecture is specially designed for the 'Tera Era,' allowing service providers to expand connectivity, throughput and capacity on demand in a pay-as-you-grow model," said Andrei Elefant, VP Product Management and Marketing at Allot Communications (News - Alert) earlier this year when Service Gateway Tera was announced. "This reduces the initial capital investment and offers service providers a smooth migration path toward SDN and virtualization."
