Allot Communications (News - Alert) Ltd., a supplier of service optimization and revenue-generation solutions for fixed and mobile broadband operators and cloud providers, has announced the launch of its new Allot Service Gateway (News - Alert) Tera. According to the company, the product is a high-performance DPI-based platform built to power the deployment of Digital Lifestyle Services in fixed and mobile data networks, on the path to software-defined networking and cloud-based network services.
According to the company, the product was developed in direct response to user requests.
“The compelling need of our customers – fixed and mobile broadband operators and cloud providers – to roll out new services faster and more effectively,” led to the development of the gateway, said Andrei Elefant, VP of product management and marketing at Allot. “Beyond the pressure to reduce costs, Allot believes in supporting our customers' need of reducing time to market for new digital lifestyle services,” he added.
Indeed, the product delivers all that and more. “Allot Service Gateway Tera provides a unified framework for both physical and virtual service deployment across any access network, serving as a single point of integration for network and cloud based services,” the company noted in a statement. The new offering includes real-time traffic management, video optimization, policy enforcement, application-based charging, and security services such as Parental Control and Anti-DDoS.
“Our modular platform architecture is specially designed for the ‘Tera Era,’ allowing service providers to expand connectivity, throughput and capacity on demand in a pay-as-you-grow model,” Elefant noted. “This reduces the initial capital investment and offers service providers a risk-free migration path toward SDN and virtualization.”
The Allot Service Gateway Tera is aimed at fixed and mobile broadband operators and cloud providers looking to differentiate themselves in the marketplace. “A typical Service Gateway Tera prospect has a medium to large network targeted at providing digital lifestyle services to consumers and businesses,” Elefant said.
Asked about some of the unique features of the platform, Elefant was effusive.
“The specific unique features of the Allot Service Gateway Tera include leading performance and scalability (15 million active subscribers per platform and up to 2 Terabits of throughput in a Tera-cluster); support for both physical and virtual service deployments; high density 100GE and 10GE connectivity; and breakthrough analytics data source capabilities,” he said.
The product, commercially available now, can be deployed in an enterprise in a matter of days, he added.
