Digital communications solutions rely on flexible and scalable networks. For operators that want to deliver services without making the costly investment in infrastructure, network functions virtualization (NFV) offers the same features at a fraction of the cost. That is the route Puerto Rican based Optivon selected when it deployed Metaswitch Network’s fully virtualized, integrated Business Communications solution.

Metaswitch, is a provider of NFV and network software, delivering solutions to help organizations make the transition into a cloud-based, software-centric, all-IP future. The company serves more than 1,000 network operators and suppliers globally with technology that supports mission-critical IT and real-time communications applications.

Optivon will be able to give its customers new generation services, including hosted PBX (News - Alert), unified communications, contact center and SIP trunking directly from Metaswitch’s software running exclusively on commodity servers in its cloud data center.

The virtualized Business Communications platform from Metaswitch gives network operators the solutions they need to introduce new products to market faster than traditional delivery models. This includes the Metaswitch IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert) (IMS), which supports advanced voice and video features so operators can offer communications services even when it is outside facilities-based networks.

To ensure the success of the Business Communications deployment, Metaswitch provides its Reference Architecture. It makes recommendations for product guidance, offer requirements, certified customer-premises equipment (CPE) and configuration tools to accelerate deployments in the lab and production environments.

Once operators have their services in place, they can use Metaview Network Management with the Service Assurance Server (SAS (News - Alert)) to analyze and diagnose VoIP operations. Technicians can identify common configuration, network, and interoperability problems, and resolve the issues before it negatively affects end users. The SAS tool also tracks user endpoint and interfaces, registrations, and accession interaction data to monitor end-to-end call quality.
