Server Technology (News - Alert), Inc., a Reno, Nev.-based global supplier of power distribution units and power monitoring and measurement products and solutions for enterprise data centers and carrier network operations, has announced its participation in the upcoming Cisco Live! event.
Through a press release, this CDU maker announced that it will be exhibiting several new solutions at the event being held in London. The company informed that these new solutions are optimized to power Cisco's (News - Alert) Unified Computing System (UCS), which combines virtualization, storage access, computing and network into a complete solution.
“We've developed a number of new solutions to help data center design engineers, application engineers and data center managers power Cisco's UCS. The new products we're showing are uniquely designed for data center environments with high-density blade servers, including a new CDU specifically for Cisco's Nexus 7000 chassis,” said Brandon Ewing, president of Server Technology.
Server Technology's Cabinet Power Distribution Units (CDUs) are claimed to help lower data center infrastructure costs for each server cabinet in the data center. According to the president of the company, Server Technology’s CDU products can reduce the number of power drops and thus improve cooling in the cabinet with less equipment interfering with air flow. All these result in better efficiency and lower capital costs for the data center, Ewing noted in the release.
Server Technology's CDUs provide a number of key benefits that allow data center professionals to better monitor and manage their operation including remote viewing of power utilization and environmental conditions; e-mail alert notification if cabinet conditions exceed pre-set thresholds; local LEDs per branch circuit or phase providing easy-to-read displays to determine if the load is balanced and visual indication that power is supplied to the CDU; environmental measurements for temperature and humidity; and local and remote notification if a branch circuit is lost.
“Data centers today want to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) and increase their business agility. We have the power management solutions to power Cisco's next-generation UCS data center platform,” Ewing explained.
In December, Server Technology and RF Code, Inc., a leading provider of active IT asset management and environmental monitoring solutions, announced a rack level wire-free power monitoring solution designed for data center energy optimization. This jointly-developed solution was developed to integrate Server Technology's Smart and Switched cabinet power distribution units (CDUs) with patented Per Inlet Power Sensing (PIPS), with or without Per Outlet Power Sensing (POPS) functionality, with RF Code's active RFID hardware and management software.
