Deloitte - Salesforce.com Foundation Alliance Assists Inveneo to Offer Telecom Networks in Underserved Nations

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Deloitte, a major international accounting and consulting firm, and Salesforce.com Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Salesforce.com (News - Alert), announced a joint initiative to assist Inveneo, a non-profit social enterprise, to deliver affordable telecom networks to underserved nations across the globe.

The networks created by Inveneo and its in-country partners offer wireless Internet access and computer infrastructure to rural areas of developing countries.

Deloitte (News - Alert) works with the Salesforce.com Foundation, which offers integration through its 1/1/1 integrated philanthropy model, to help Inveneo design and implement its sales and partner relationship solution.

With the partnership, Inveneo (News - Alert) will save time and money through tracking and managing critical information in the cloud. The alliance allows Inveneo to support a network of entrepreneurs in developing countries.

“More than two billion people living in rural and remote communities lack basic access to information and communication technologies, such as telephony, computing, and Internet access,” said Paul Clemmons, principal, Deloitte Consulting, in a statement.

Inveneo, which focuses on organizations that provide education, healthcare, economic development and relief services to underserved communities, is growing an ecosystem of IT entrepreneurs who are recruited, trained, and certified to provide local project leadership and support for these organizations.

“Assisting aspirational global nonprofit leaders, such as Inveneo, to achieve their business goals and improve the communities in which they live and work is what corporate philanthropy should be about,” said Suzanne DiBianca, executive director, Salesforce.com Foundation, in a statement.

Deloitte and the Salesforce.com Foundation partnered to offer software and services to Inveneo on a pro bono basis. The project enabled Inveneo to streamline its business processes. It is now scaling up its partner network and expanding its reach.

The collaboration between Deloitte and the Salesforce.com Foundation gives Inveneo the freedom to bring some of its internal resources back to core functions. As a result, it is spending less time managing partners and tracking sales leads. Inveneo allows staff members to concentrate on fundraising and service delivery.

Earlier last year, Salesforce.com Foundation announced the growing success of its mission to inspire companies around the world to give 1 percent of their resources forward to support organizations that are making the world a better place, TMCnet reported.

According to company officials, hundreds of companies of all sizes including Google, LiveOps, NewVoiceMedia (News - Alert) and Seal Shield have adopted Salesforce.com’s unique 1/1/1 integrated corporate philanthropy model, where “1 percent of a company’s time, 1 percent of its equity and 1 percent of its products are given forward to the community.”
