Salesforce.com Acquires Manymoon for Task Management, Project Reports

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Industry observer Larry Dignan is reporting that Salesforce.com has acquired Manymoon, a company making social productivity apps "built on Google (News - Alert) Apps, LinkedIn and the Google Chrome Web Store."

It's a good fit, as Dignan notes, "Manymoon allows you to manage tasks, create project reports, track time and attach documents to tasks."

In May 2010, TMCnet reported that Manymoon, a free, Web-based social productivity tool, announced a new contextual gadget for Gmail that integrates with Google Apps or any other site that supports OpenSocial. Available for Google Apps users, the Manymoon Gmail contextual gadget enables users to track and complete projects and tasks directly within an e-mail. Once a user adds the gadget, it can intelligently update tasks and projects with important content and contacts from within e-mails, making them more actionable.

Manymoon officials said the company's work activity tracking software "will remain intact and be a separate business within Salesforce.com (News - Alert)," according to a blog post cited by Dignan, who added that while Manymoon officials said their services "will remain on its current platforms, it’s highly likely that its features will also be tied into Salesforce.com properties such as Chatter.com."

Manymoon "gives users a workspace to share, organize, and get things done: communications, document-sharing, scheduling, task lists all in one place," company officials explained in May, adding that it can be used with people inside and outside of their organization, "and since it's online, all a user needs is an Internet connection.

"The Google Apps Marketplace makes it easy for more than two million Google Apps customers to discover, purchase and deploy integrated cloud applications," said Scott McMullan (News - Alert), Google Apps Partner Lead for Google Enterprise at the time. "Manymoon is one of the top apps in the Marketplace in part because it has a rich set of integrated features that work well with Google Apps. They've now added Gmail integration to that, adding another reason for users to benefit from the combo of Manymoon plus Google Apps as a great way to get work done."
