CRM cloud computing and enterprise software provider, Salesforce.com (News - Alert), released its fiscal first quarter results today.
During the company's conference call this afternoon held in Salesforce.com's offices in Japan, which took place at 6:00 a.m. there, David Hadlock, vice president of investor relations, spoke with its team of exciting news.
Marc Benioff (News - Alert), chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com, said that Japan have been leaders of cloud computing, and the company's Japanese business unit turned in amazing results quarter over quarter, as the second largest business for the company, following the United States.
"Cloud computing is a tremendous accelerator for the economics and business of Japan," Benioff said. "On the technology front, we're positioned to create much higher level of success."
With the company's new initiatives, "the collaboration cloud, the data cloud and the java cloud - Salesforce is defining the next level of our growth," he said.
On the call, the CRM provider's CEO discussed how revenue grew 24 percent at $376.8 million to propel the company past the $1.5 billion annual revenue run rate. But, that's not enough to satisfy the masses.
"This starts to focus on very clearly on the very important $2 billion milestone," Benioff said, adding that the company's major milestone of the quarter was the record cash flow, an increase of more than 40 percent over a year ago.
"Operating cash flow grew to a record $143 million, and we added 4,800 net new customers during the quarter, also a new record. It was an outstanding quarter for salesforce.com," Benioff said.
With over 77,300 at the end of the first quarter, the company has added roughly 18,000 net paying customers since April 30 of last year, an increase of around 30 percent. Just a hunch, but my guess is that it probably had something to do with the company's release of Salesforce Chatter earlier this year.
