Amdocs (News - Alert) recently announced that it has signed a definitive agreement over the acquisition of Actix, a privately-held provider of software solutions for optimizing mobile networks. The acquisition deal, which is expected to be completed by the end of September, amounts to an approximate $120 million in cash and will be subject to customary closing conditions. With this acquisition in place, Amdocs is expecting to expand its suite of customer experience systems and services to include network domains for managing customer experience for networks and IT.
In a statement, Bill McHale, chief executive officer of Actix (News - Alert), said, "Together, Amdocs and Actix will continue to pioneer development in network optimization, enhancing our position as the leading provider of network-independent solutions in this area. The combination of our assets, spanning network and IT, will offer service providers the most powerful customer experience driven network optimization solution available."
The new acquisition will enable Amdocs to compliment its CES (News - Alert) (Customer Experience Systems) portfolio with geo-located network data, which will help the company boost a number of optimization use cases. Furthermore, the acquisition will also consolidate Amdocs' position as the only vendor offering customer experience-driven network optimization.
Rebecca Prudhomme (News - Alert), vice president of product and solutions marketing for Amdocs, said that, "With this acquisition, Amdocs will continue to lead the way in customer experience innovation. Linking network knowledge to customer insight, we will continue to deliver on the promise of our CES 9 portfolio to help service providers unleash the power of experience, while delivering operational efficiencies."
Service providers will now be able to use geo-located network information provided by Actix's solutions, along with customer data from Amdocs' policy management, BSS and OSS systems to support advanced customer experience use cases. They will also be in a position to improve network performance and enhance the experience for specific customers, Amdocs said. This will allow them to provide an optimized customer experience and benefit from cost-efficiencies thanks to enhanced level of automation and optimization of their current networks.
