Headsets Maker Sennheiser Adds 'Seminars4Worship' Series to its 'Sound Academy' Series of Traveling Seminars

By Patrick Barnard, Group Managing Editor, TMCnet

One of the keys to success for any business is knowing not only who the company’s customers are -- but also who they could be.

As such, high quality headsets maker Sennheiser USA has expanded its Sound Academy seminars by adding “Seminars4Worship,” a traveling workshop for worship leaders and technicians. The series of workshops, now underway, includes an in-depth wireless personal monitor mixing session led by Kent Margraves, Sennheiser’s installed sound applications manager.

Installed sound systems play an important role in church services – especially for larger congregations. While most churches generally have good acoustics, there can still be challenges in delivering strong, clear sound to every corner of a parish hall -- or throughout an entire church facility – especially when it is an older building. Not only is it important that everyone in the congregation – both old and young alike – is able to hear every word in a sermon or address, it is also critically important that parish leaders be able to hear themselves – typically through a wireless headset with discreet microphone and an ear-piece that doesn’t detract from the visual experience. What’s more, these headsets need to be highly reliable, so as to minimize the possibility of technical problems that could result in service interruptions.

The “In-Ear Monitor Systems in Worship” is an informative session cut straight from the Sennheiser Installed Sound Academy seminar for technicians and operators. Attendees will learn how hearing and perception relates to the art of stage monitoring and will use individual wireless personal monitor systems to hear several examples from live worship stages. Various techniques will also be discussed and demonstrated in the session.

Remaining “Seminars4Worship” seminars will be held on the following dates, at the following locations:

--Oct. 5-6, 2009, Tampa, Florida, First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks
--Oct. 12-13, 2009, Memphis, Tennessee, Faith Baptist Church
--Nov. 2-3, 2009, Cleveland, Ohio, Cuyahoga Valley Church
--Nov. 9-10, 2009, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Wave Church

Registration rates range from $99 to $299, depending on your status and sign-up date. Attendees may register for the seminars at www.seminars4worship.com

Sennheiser’s Sound Academy is a traveling series of seminars geared for professionals and students with keen interests in broadcast, theater, film, music and installed sound. Sennheiser currently offers three separate Sound Academy seminars focusing on RF wireless techniques, studio recording practices and installed sound.
