Recently, TMCnet sat down with KeyPhoneDirect.com’s Greg Lamont as he shared his thoughts about the past year and the future of conference phones in 2009.

 

TMCnet: Looking back at 2008, how would you characterize the year for your company?

 

Greg Lamont: Change. We have upgraded our software to enable KeyphonesDirect.com to speed the order process and cut deliver time. Our clients should be very happy with our technological advances.

 

TMCnet: What were the key trends that impacted your business?

 

GL: The fourth quarter has been challenging for the industry and well as KeyphonesDirect.com. Like most companies that want to be competitive and survive tough times, we have eliminated all waste, inefficiencies.  

 

TMCnet: What was your company’s biggest achievement in the past year?

 

GL: Reorganization and software upgrade.

 

TMCnet: What are your customers looking for in the coming year?  

 

GL: Competitive prices and incoming business to survive. This will be a very challenging year.

 

TMCnet: What can we expect to see from your company in the next 12 months?

 

GL:  Stronger communication with clients to understand immediate needs.

 

TMCnet: Do you think a new administration in Washington, D.C. will be good for the communications industry? If so, how? If not, why not?

 

GL: We’re all looking for the market to see the bottom, stabilize and recover.  The new administration has projected that they will act quickly with economic stimuli and any quick sound policy seems positive.

 

TMCnet: In your view, please describe the future of the IP Communications industry?  

 

GL: IP is the future of the Telecommunications industry for the business community. We will continue to see limited capital expenditure throughout 2009, which will impact sales of new technology, but IP is the future.

 

TMCnet: If you had to make one bold prediction for 2009, what would it be?

 

GL: The US will show signs of recovery before the end of the year. Unlike the depression of the 1930’s, we have the capacity to recover much more rapidly. Ironically, much of that ability has been created by the technological advances in this very industry!
