Conference Calls Aid Businesses in Rough Economy

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

In today’s economy, where saving on costs has emerged as a chief concern, businesses are being forced to find ways to do more with less – and without sacrificing customer and client communications.

By removing the need to send employees to various meeting locations to conduct business, not only can companies cut down on travel costs, but they will also increase the productivity of workers who can spend less time waiting in airports, or traveling to and from dedicated locations.

In fact, a recent report from Synergy (News - Alert) Research Group finds that while the worldwide market for Collaborative Applications in Q1 2009 amounted to $913.3 million in sales, and while some customers are waiting on the economy to pick up before making their buying decisions, conferencing has been able to buck the decreasing trend and actually grow revenues.

This uptake in spending on conferencing and collaboration technologies, the research firm notes, is due to an increased move towards technologies with short ROI and that increase employee efficiency.

Conference call services can be used to communicate via video or audio conference - linking together all participants regardless of their physical location.

Meetings can be conducted point-to-point, between two people, or multi-point and involve numerous participants located at different sites that can not only communicate but also share documents and collaborate without having to leave their office or location.

Voice over IP, or VoIP technology, which sends audio packets across the Internet for voice communications, can extend cost savings to companies by reducing long distance and toll charges associated with traditional landline calling.

In addition to cost savings, conferencing can also improve the decision making process by allowing customers or clients to meet more frequently to discuss business matters whether it’s on the spot, or spontaneous.

For businesses looking to save on costs and remain successful, deciding what their specific needs are, and how conference calls can help improve their efforts, is key. Whether a company is large and needs a provider who can offer a moderator for conference call sessions, an at-home business, or an expanding business that’s going multinational, investigating and choosing the right teleconferencing service provider can help them stay ahead of this downturn.

Eagle Teleconferencing is a provider offering conference call solutions that are especially useful in the current climate, as they can be set up last-minute and are available around-the-clock. Also, with a worldwide network connection infrastructure and a capacity of more than 10 billion minutes, the company offers businesses conference call options for productivity and reliability.
