CiRBA Offers Higher Density, Lower Risk in Operating Environments

  By Ed Silverstein, TMCnet Contributor

CiRBA can eliminate risk and lead to more efficiency. The company’s Automated Capacity Control software balances infrastructure supply and demand in the virtual and cloud infrastructure.

It also provides visibility in demand for compute, storage and network resources. In turn, companies can optimize their VM routing, placement and sizing. Just how useful is it? Global 2000 customers who use CiRBA will get between 40 and 70 percent improvement in infrastructure efficiency, the company predicts. They will achieve higher VM density and safer, automated operations – as well.

Andrew Hillier, CTO and co-founder of CiRBA, who spoke at the recent Cloud Expo 2014 held in New York City, took time out to speak with TMC’s Erik Linask (News - Alert) about the company and its products.

“We kind of bring a science to the alignment of supply and demand, which really drives up the density and drives down the risk of the operating environments,” Hillier explained. That means that users will see lower costs, lower risk, and more automation [which is important for clouds]. It too can be used to defer hardware purchases by putting workloads on what users already have. Users can also purchase less software.

Without using CiRBA, users may find they will get jumbled environments with low density. That leads to a waste of money, and increased risk. But CiRBA leads to typically a 48 percent jump in density, when the analytics are applied.

“There’s nothing else that really does this,” Hillier said. CiRBA looks at the big picture, of how workloads interact with each other.

The company’s product can also be used to make decisions across multiple hosting environments on a global level, Hillier adds. And it appears that improved management capability and visibility into workloads leads to companies losing their reluctance to go to the cloud.
