Ozonetel Systems, a Hyderabad India-based cloud telephony services firm, has launched a virtual PBX (News - Alert) system intended, according to the Indian industry journal Business Standard, to “do away with the need for on-site equipment and wiring of a conventional PBX system as well as the need for a separate PBX for different offices of a company.”
That’s quite the goal, but as CSN Murthy, director of Ozonetel Systems, explains to the Standard, the system is mainly targeted at “start-ups that have not already invested in a telecom system and at small and medium enterprises, for whom affordability is a factor.”
The company intends to find the economies necessary by locating it in the cloud. The product is plug-and-play, and Murthy touts the “scalability and convenience” it offers the target SMB market: “We will provide fixed wireless phones to the client, for which we have tie-ups with telecom operators. Say you want three connections, 10 extensions and a PBX. I provision my data centre accordingly and give you the numbers, say, ‘1’ for sales, ‘2’ for operations, and so on, the way you want.”
In March TMC’s (News - Alert) Deepika Mala wrote that Ozonetel announced a partnership with India’s first “Startup Weekend” event in Bangalore, to encourage the development of voice based cloud telephony applications in the country.
The event took place in March at the Microsoft (News - Alert) office Signature building, and attracted software developers, graphic designers and business people.
To help application developers, programmers and entrepreneurs host their applications and create a commercial case for a credible business venture, Kookoo.in, Ozonete’s unique IVRS and India’s first hosted cloud telephony platform, was given out free at the event.
