SDS or Secure Data Services, based on the latest version of Asigra's industry leading agentless cloud backup solution, seems to be the need of the hour for organizations of all sizes that are looking for a high-speed, agentless, pay-as-you-go backup solution for their mission-critical applications. Interxion Holdings NV has launched an enhanced version of SDS that offers all these benefits.

Interxion (News - Alert) Secure Data Services is a cost-effective, cloud-based backup solution that enables organizations of all sizes and levels of technological sophistication to instantly back up, manage and recover their mission-critical data using an Interxion data center vault. It is ideally suited for multi-site and mobile data backup.

Easy to install and operate, Interxion's SDS requires minimum bandwidth and uses FIPS-certified encryption and data destruction processes. FIPS 140-2 security certification is an independently-assessed standard recognized by government agencies internationally, including the US Department of Defense. FIPS certification provides a level of compliance which is second to none for blue chips and the most security-conscious public sector organizations.

It requires no initial capital investment and is billed in accordance with the amount of compressed data and advanced de-duplication. It offers a new low-cost local-only backup feature for on-premise data backup, enabling customers to allocate backup resource in proportion to data value.

Currently deployed by more than 250,000 sites globally and relied on by leading service providers including CDW (News - Alert), HP and Verizon, Interxion's SDS supports public, private and hybrid clouds and also extends support for virtualized environments such as VMWare, XenServer and more, using their latest native API's, which help improve performance and usability.

In a press release, Kevin Dean (News - Alert), Interxion CMO said that the new SDS solution led the field in key areas and was also appealing to new users, who ranged from medium-sized enterprises to international public sector agencies. He enumerated the many advantages that would accrue to organizations using Interxion's SDS that included a full benefit set to public, private and hybrid cloud stacks, local-only backup and FIPS certification.

In a related news release, TMCnet reported that Interxion Holdings NV, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data center services, had completed the second of three phased expansions to its ZUR1 data center in Zurich-Glattbrugg, in response to consistent growth in customer demand.
