Nortel CVAS and Sigma Systems Supply Technology and Services for Bell Aliant's Network

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Nortel and Sigma Systems have announced an agreement to supply technology and services for Bell Aliant’s (News - Alert) next-generation network across Atlantic Canada.

Through the newly received technologies and services, Bell Aliant will be offering its customers across Atlantic Canada advanced IP-based residential business communication services and applications.

Bell Aliant said it is pleased to be collaborating with Nortel (News - Alert) and Sigma Systems, and that the collaboration will give them a solid  position in the delivery of next-generation services to their customers.

Through the agreement, Bell Aliant will deliver high-speed data and video/IPTV (News - Alert), advance VoIP using Nortel’ CVAS solutions and Sigma’s Service Management Portfolio of fulfillment solutions.

Nortel’s CVAS solution and expertise in carrier-grade reliability helps service providers to deliver a more ubiquitous and reliable service that also give subscribers the freedom to take their communications with them across any network or device, according to the Toronto company.

Additionally, CVAS has all the elements service providers need to expand and strengthen their offer to business subscribers, according to Nortel. It will allow service providers to simplify administration tasks and truck rolls for customer support, accept orders and remotely provision and activate IP telephony services for subscribers. This, in turn, will increase customer satisfaction and loyalty because subscribers will be able to use their IP phones and devices more quickly.

Sigma Systems’ (News - Alert) Service Management Platform is a multi-service fulfillment platform designed specifically to deliver advanced VoIP, data, Internet, video, content, converged, messaging, mobile and multi-media services across network domains – and to an unlimited range of IP-enabled end user devices.

Samih Elhage, president of CVAS at Nortel, said in a press release that both Bell Alaint and Nortel have a long standing partnership. Furthermore, Bell Aliant’s continued investment in Nortel’s CVAS portfolio is a testament to the company’s ability to help service providers boost subscriber loyalty by providing high-quality IP communications to subscribers.

Nortel’s IP-powered business voice and multimedia solution, in combination with Sigma’s device management capability, helps Bell Aliant to deploy and provision advanced IP voice and video services quickly and cost-effectively.

Officials with Sigma Systems have said that Bell Aliant is a great example of a next-generation operator - a service provider that delivers to its customers the latest services available via IP technology and fiber. Sigma Systems’ SMP fulfillment solutions and expertise in delivering multiple services, including VoIP, digital IP-based TV and broadband, will help Bell Aliant achieve its next-generation services evolution.
