Comcast (News - Alert) is making quite a few moves in order to strengthen itself in the tech sector, and along with those moves the company is also opening a brand new call center in Hudson, New Hampshire. Once the call center is fully online, it will bring 100 new jobs to the area, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader. The company said the hiring will take place over the course of the year and will be added somewhat slowly, but all 100 positions will be filled by the end of 2014.
The move might not be a direct effect of moves like buying Time Warner but it seems likely the company is aware it is going to need more customer service reps across the country. This is hardly the only move Comcast is making, either. Recent reports say the company looks to be dipping its toes in the video game market.
The report says that Comcast is working on a gaming deal with Electronic Arts. The deal would allow the firm to stream casual and family games on their television using the X1 set-top box. These kinds of moves are going to require more customer service representatives.
When this new call center is finally finished, sometime this summer, the facility will have a capacity of 600 employees. There are actually expected to be more than 200 people hired by the end of the year and 100 of those will be brand new jobs. The Comcast customer service center will be housed in a 127,000 square foot section inside a building known as the Presstek. Presstek still operates in an 84,000 square foot section of the same building.
Once the new positions in Hudson are filled, Comcast will have more than 1,700 workers across the state of New Hampshire. The company says it also intends to employ more workers in the state in the coming years.
