Springfield, Missouri, is about to have a new employer that will be putting out the “help wanted” sign. The good news is this is also an employer that understands how to run a successful business. KSPR is reporting that AT&T (News - Alert) has announced it is launching a new hiring round at its call center in order to find retail sales and call center representatives in the Springfield area.
In order to spark the possible 70 new employees, AT&T hosted a hiring event that was along the same vein of a job fair. The 70 employees that are going to be hired in the Springfield area are part of a much larger approach the company appears to be taking. Earlier in April, the company announced it was going to be adding about 3,000 people to its employment rolls across the country.
AT&T is apparently having pretty good success across a wide range of services as it says the hiring is in order to meet expanded needs of its customers. The company is rolling out new retail locations around the country while also making sure it has plenty of people working its call centers. There is something to be said for cellular providers moving toward dedicated contact centers, because employees of these companies are in the know when it comes to dealing with advanced communication techniques such as texting or Web chatting.
Customers of contact centers have made it clear they would rather talk to customer service reps using texting, emails or web chatting than dialing them up on the phone. AT&T is one of the largest and most successful cellular and telecommunications providers in the country. The firm has employed more than 10,000 people in Missouri, with a state payroll there totaling more than $890 million by the end of 2012. The hires in Springfield and other parts of the state are likely to increase that payroll number this year.
