The First Call Resolution company in Veneta, Oregon, is following a growing trend in the call center market. Luckily for those looking for a job in the area, that trend is adding staff onto a center because it can’t keep up with current demand. The call center market can be quite volatile at times, with companies uprooting from one location and moving to another in hopes of finding the right mix of expenditures and revenue.
First Call has said that it is desperate for people who are looking to get a good job, and wants to hire about 150 by June. Eventually the firm says it could add as many as 300 people to the call center that is currently located in an old True Value Hardware building.
"We're hiring about 20 [people] every two weeks," said Michael Rice, the facility director in Veneta, in a recent statement, "and we've had a great ratio of people in the local area coming to work for us, and we're really excited about the work force here."
This hiring spate is a welcome addition in a community that has been steadily losing jobs over the last few decades. Other areas of the country, such as Tulsa, Oklahoma, have actually gone out of their way to become a place where contact centers are welcomed with open arms. It might be a decent strategy for Veneta to look into, if First Call Resolution can actually build a future for itself with the latest round of hiring.
More than simply giving those who are unemployed a new job, the call center could help some people find themselves in a better situation. Veneta has a huge amount (over 80 percent) of its workforce commuting outside the town. This new call center could allow at least a few people to find work inside the city limits. That’s good news for a worker’s families, as well as other local businesses.
