TD Insurance is jumping with both feet to grow its contact center. The company is following in the footsteps of other companies that have had to increase their employee rolls, and will add more than 275 jobs by the end of 2016. The company is going to be increasing its staff in stages and the firm has already posted as many as 120 full time jobs on its website.
TD Insurance is hiring people who will be dealing with contacts that need information on the service and claims response. Some of the jobs that the company is going to be adding to the staff are going to be coming from the Peterborough, Ontario, office. That office will eventually be phased out and closed down. The firm is looking to see how many of those employees are going to be moving to the new facility in Saint John.
"Financial services are among the fastest growing sectors in New Brunswick and we are pleased TD Insurance has chosen Saint John to expand its operations,” Premier David Alward said in a recent statement about the new call center. “Working with strong partners like TD Insurance is a key part of our government's plan to create jobs and rebuild the economy."
The provincial government is investing more than $2 million in the call center in the form of a payroll rebate that will help TD Insurance hire the employees they need to fully staff the new center. Local governments embrace call centers like this one because they become an economic stimulus for the surrounding areas. Local authorities say that the call center will add about $40 million a year to the area’s gross domestic product once all of the 275 positions have been filled. The company announced that a third floor will be added to the Saint John’s call center in order to accommodate the increased staff.
