NICE Systems, a provider of advanced solutions for companies to capture, storage, retrieval and analysis of customer interactions for contact centers and enterprises, has been selected by Beijing Metro in China to provide its IP video systems for its largest security project in the underground subway system.

This follows the news that NICE was selected as the IP video surveillance provider for various Oklahoma Casinos, by Cherokee Nation Entertainment, which utilized NICE’s IP-capable video surveillance technology on a larger scale.

Additionally, the company recently released NiceVision eXpress, an IP video surveillance solution designed for small- and mid-sized deployments.

In this new agreement, NICE will provide IP video surveillance systems for projects to enhance safety and security at the 24 stations of its Line 15 route in the Beijing Metro. According to company officials, following a deployment of six other metro lines, NICE was selected along with Beijing JingShiDa Machinery and equipment Research Institute, as the company’s partner on the venture.

Currently under construction in Beijing, Line 15 is planned to run 40 kilometers, with 24 stations, across northern Beijing from Xiyuan in Haidan District in the west.

The NICE IP video security surveillance system will be deployed to protect commuters at each of the line’s 24 stations and will be connected to a security system that consists of over 2,600 channels.

Beijing’s Metro system will receive a scalable IP-based video system that will give Beijing Metro Line 15 surveillance to help protect the railway including its tracks and stations and passengers.

Additionally, NICE will go the extra mile by providing advanced capabilities such as identifying unattended luggage, detecting unauthorized entry into secured areas and counting the number of people across multiple entries/exits.

This way, security personnel can verify all aspects of running a safe and secure metro system.
