With the FCC (News - Alert) promoting widespread adoption of Text-to-911, many U.S. carriers have been working to provide this capability for public safety answering point (PSAP) systems. Along the same lines, NICE Systems (News - Alert) has introduced a new Text-to-911 logging solution for the public safety market.
NICE Systems is a provider of software solutions that empowers organizations to capture, analyze, and apply insights from Big Data – to fight financial crime, and safeguard people and their assets.
The latest Text-to-911 logging solution addresses the need to capture and reconstruct Text-to-911 communications for incident investigations and quality assurance purposes.
It is designed to work with NICE Inform, which is a software application layer that synchronously combines data from various capture platforms, including Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP)-based Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), video and text.
Supporting interim (transitional) Text-to-911 solutions, the NICE Text-to-911 logging solution is compatible with the National Emergency Number Association's (NENA's) i3 and the European Emergency Number Association's (EENA's) NG112 standards.
With the help of this solution, emergency text messages can be viewed in an incident timeline along with other related multimedia such as voice recordings, video, GIS and call-taker screens.
According to John Rennie, general manager of public safety at NICE Systems, the Text-to-911 solution is an important NG9-1-1 milestone and the first step toward richer PSAP communications with the public.
Rennie added, "Recent FCC proposals are accelerating the pace toward more widespread deployment of Text-to-911, and other forms of multimedia communications are not far behind. NICE is committed to providing innovative solutions to help 911 centers manage the coming wave of Text-to-911 and other Next Gen communications."
The NICE Text-to-911 logging solution will be available as an upgrade for emergency communications centers that are already using NICE Inform.
