Unified Communications (UC) is becoming an ever growing part of the technological community. Industry insiders from across the globe are seeing an increased need and an increase call for more advanced versions of the technology every day. Along those lines, VP of business development of 8x8 Inc., Huw Rees (News - Alert) will be giving a presentation on the issue of accelerating the adoption of Unified Communications at ITEXPO Austin as part of his keynote address.

Rees will be presenting his talk at 11:45 am on Wednesday, October 3 as part of the ITEXPO (News - Alert) Austin that began today. The Expo will run through Friday, October 5 and is considered one of the best attended communications and tech trade shows in the world. Rees will talk about the fact that he believes there are still too many definitions for what Unified Communications actually is and that may be playing a part in the fact that small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) are not adopting UC as much as they could be. Rees will touch on where the business community is on the whole when it comes to the market life cycle of UC and how SMBs can accelerate adoption of the technology.

“If our industry can't clearly define what UC is, and what it really does for the user and the business, what hope is there for the average businessperson?” Rees said in a recent statement previewing his speech. “I hope to leave the ITEXPO audience with some key takeaways while bringing a unique perspective on this timely subject to the table.”

Rees has been a senior manager with 8x8 (News - Alert) Inc for 13 years and has been a key figure in the communications technology field for a quarter of a century. Rees helped spearhead the drive by 8x8 to change from a company that focused almost entirely on OEM to one that focuses on business and consumer end users.
