Sitel, a customer care outsourcing provider, has announced that its Newcastle center has won the Silver level of the North East Better Health Awards in conjunction with the local NHS team and approved by the Northern TUC.

Sitel said that it is committed to providing learning opportunities that enable all employees to carry out their jobs effectively and to assisting in career management. In line with this goal, Sitel’s Newcastle center supports the development of internal talent within the Newcastle site, utilizing a combination of role-focussed training activities, experiential learning, coaching and mentoring.

Progress through role-specific and learning tracks is supported via an internal Learning Management System, Sitel University, which enables the integration of on-demand e-learning materials and virtual-classroom training from its Global Learning Team. It also provides automated reporting for tracking completion and quantifying the success of training activities.

The Newcastle center has recently been conducting a drive to improve employee health. The center has introduced a ‘New Year New You’ week to encourage healthy living, regular exercise and complementary treatments, along with a July Sports month with interdepartmental challenges every Friday including carpet bowls, skittles and Jenga.

The center has also invited a team of district health care professionals to conduct cholesterol tests, BMI measurements and smoking cessation sessions to increase the level of health in the organization.

“This award is a great achievement and provides external recognition for all of the excellent employee engagement and well-being activities that we undertake for our employees,” said Judith Mottershead, Newcastle Site Director.
