Much has been written about call center readerboards and wallboards being old technology, too expensive, and not offering the call center the same level of effectiveness as an LCD screen.
But clearly this is not the case. If used as intended, readerboards and wallboards remain one of the most effective real time reporting tools available.
Here are some of the reasons to use call center readerboards and wallboards:
--A call center manager wants to display text and numeric information.
--The visibility needs to be more than 80 feet. A two inch character on wallboards can be viewed from 100 feet. The same two inch character on an LCD screen is visible from only 32 feet.
--A readerboard or wallboard has a typical life expectancy of more than 10 years. A commercial grade LCD screen has a typical life expectancy of four years.
Does this mean that LCD screens should not be used? Certainly not! If the requirements include the need for charts, graphs, live media, pictures, office documents, RSS feeds, streaming video and Web to be displayed, then a LCD screen and software is the right choice.
There are many reasons to invest in a call center readerboards or wallboards -- and one of them is lower total cost of ownership.
