Constantly growing traffic volumes compounded by the growing popularity of over the top content (OTT) is straining networks and Internet peering points, impacting user experience. To add to this, some content suffers from latency, and service providers and operators are finding it tough to handle network capacity and ensure a good user experience.
So, what's the answer to these problems? Well, PeerApp claims that the answer lies in transparent caching and has introduced the UltraBand 6000 to enable operators to manage both their network traffic and their subscribers' quality of experience simultaneously.
UltraBand 6000 is regarded as the next generation in its UltraBand multiservice transparent caching product family. It processes up to 40 percent more content traffic than the largest systems currently available, according to company officials.
Transparent caching speeds up content delivery, reduces network load by automatically detecting popular content and storing and delivering it from the network edge, and this is exactly what UltraBand 6000 is capable of.
It improves network efficiency and optimizes content delivery networks by delivering all content from the network edge. Operators can thus meet the exploding consumer demand for OTT content, while managing network traffic and quality of user experience.
The new UltraBand 6000 offers the industry's broadest content coverage, a unique cache policy engine, supports streaming video and audio and also gives operators precise control over caching resources.
Over 270 network operators have deployed UltraBand, touted to be the most widely deployed transparent caching platform and according to Robert Mayer, CEO at PeerApp, its deployment is slowly becoming a part of network growth and content management.
Patrick Bradd, chief technology officer, LIME, a full-service telecom provider in the Caribbean and Brian Partridge, research vice president of the Yankee Group were full of praise for the capabilities of PeerApp's UltraBand 6000.
PeerApp, the provider of transparent caching platforms and Allot Communications Ltd (News - Alert)., a provider of service optimization and revenue generation solutions, announced that a joint solution comprising its respective technologies was nominated by NTT Advanced Technology and subsequently won a 'Best of Show' Award in the Performance Optimization category at Interop (News - Alert) Tokyo.
Allot and PeerApp were selected from among over 200 vendors who submitted entries for this year's awards, for improving service quality and reducing network congestion for over-the-top content delivery.
