SolveForce has announced that it has rolled out MPLS and VoIP services across the state of California.
MPLS stands for Multi-Protocol Label Switching. MPLS attaches labels to packets as they traverse the network.
“The uniqueness of MPLS business vs. a regular VPN or other IP connection is its use of labeling,” a SolveForce statement said. “Voice and data get sent in packets so when those packets are received at the MPLS network, each packet is assigned a label. That packet actually gets assigned multiple labels – but one at a time as it progresses through the MPLS network from one end to the other.”
Using labels this way allows routers to select faster paths instead of building complex routing tables. The packets are moved according to pre-determined paths. These paths can be more direct than the traditional Internet routing protocols.
While traditional routing is responsible for the Internet’s robustness, for applications that require a low latency, such as VoIP and videoconferencing, traditional connections can also cause stuttering and jitter.
SolveForce also announced that it was offering business VoIP across the state of California, including hosted VoIP. A hosted VoIP system has the advantage of not needing to install any additional hardware on the premises.
A key reason why businesses have been going for VoIP is the cost savings. VoIP PBX (News - Alert) systems are significantly cheaper than traditional PBX systems. With SIP trunking, businesses can have all their VoIP and Internet traffic on the same connection, eliminating the need for a separate phone line. This has also resulted in the growth of unified communications as many businesses integrate their phone and Internet connections into one application.
SolveForce is already based in Irvine, California, and should have no problem offering these services in its home state. The company recently also launched MPLS services in Denver.
