HarePoint released a new version of its HarePoint Workflow Extensions, which includes more than 200 ‘ready-to-use’ activities that will enhance workflow development in Microsoft (News - Alert) SharePoint environments.

The product enables the development of advanced workflows which automates all forms of business processes. HarePoint Workflow Extensions are compatible with SharePoint Server 2013, SharePoint Server 2010, SharePoint Foundation 2013 and SharePoint Foundation 2010 environments.

Officials explained that the new release offers new workflow activities such as conversion of InfoPath forms into PDFs. This optimized feature allows the generation of a PDF from an InfoPath form irrespective of the layout and structure. This covers purchasing forms, accounting forms, user requests and other forms that may require a PDF format.

The new release also features field comparison for SharePoint list items or documents covering different versions for execution in workflow. The new version allows automatic adjustment of pictures in Microsoft Word document and has the capability to send meeting requests from a workflow. It can also send an SMS from a workflow, besides adding new strings to existing tables in Microsoft Word documents.

HarePoint Workflow Extensions allows workflow developers to leverage familiar tools for workflow development such as SharePoint Designer and Microsoft Visio. This does not require implementation and study of new frameworks and hence reduces the development costs and time.

The other features in the new version includes find and replace text in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel documents, convert into PDFs, send messages with attachments, send HTTP requests, upload documents and list items via FTP and operate with user and group data from Active Directory.

HarePoint Workflow Extensions also allows the printing of documents automatically besides converting and resizing of images, executing custom code and PowerShell scripts as well as other features. It enables the creation of any workflow using the 200+ workflow activities in 16 different categories.

Workflows are SharePoint’s key feature for automating business processes. The out of the box set of workflow activities in SharePoint satisfies basic needs for authoring workflows. HarePoint Workflow Extensions contains identical sets of activities (more than 200 actions and conditions) for SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013. It moves workflows between different versions of SharePoint; secure company investments in workflows development for SharePoint 2010 and avoid headache when migrating to SharePoint 2013.
