ServiceNow Provides Enterprise IT Cloud to Government Agencies

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

The lower costs and reduced complexity of enterprise cloud systems are beginning to appeal various IT organizations. They provide numerous other advantages as well, such as shared pools, on-demand access, and quick provisioning.

ServiceNow, a company that provides enterprise cloud solutions, has received the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) Moderate Authority to Operate (ATO) from the U.S. This authorization will allow the company to explore new opportunities in federal, state and local government agencies.

Apart from conforming to FISMA Moderate level, ServiceNow also recently won an ISO 27001 certification, a well-known global security standard.

Recently, the government initiated a “Cloud-First” policy, which encourages companies to make use of cloud computing benefits and get the best use of their capacity and enhance their IT flexibility. The government has also made it mandatory for government entities to develop, document and deploy a security program for its cloud computing environments.

FISMA Moderate ATO cloud service from ServiceNow allows government agencies to modernize their IT infrastructure, and eliminate problems such as agency-wide fragmentation and redundancy.

The firm claims that government IT can now transform itself into an enterprise IT with its products.

“Receiving the FISMA Moderate ATO authorization demonstrates ServiceNow’s commitment to meeting security guidelines set by government agencies. The authorization includes continuous monitoring of controls and providing transparency about the well-being of those controls back to the agencies,” said Arne Josefsberg, chief technology officer, ServiceNow. “This effort will also allow us to accelerate our submission for FedRAMP authorization which will further reduce the cost and time required when agencies conduct redundant, separate security assessments.”

Recently, the company partnered with Hitachi Solutions to be the first business partner in Japan to offer ServiceNow Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) to the Japanese market.
