HP Application Performance Management Software Helps Organizations Improve Business Performance

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor

Application performance management (APM (News - Alert)) software has always been a favorite tool for system administrators, operators, application developers, IT service management professionals, and more, for monitoring and managing the performance and availability of software applications consecutively improving business performance and customer responsiveness.

Hewlett-Packard (News - Alert) (HP) offers HP Application Performance Management (APM) software, which is currently leveraged by many organizations around the globe to improve the business performance and customer satisfaction, according to a statement.

As a key component of the HP IT Performance Suite, HP APM is a next-generation enterprise performance software platform that allows IT management to improve performance with operational intelligence.

“As organizations adopt increasingly dynamic infrastructures using virtualization, cloud and mobility technologies, they must also ensure application performance does not negatively impact business performance,” said Matt Morgan, vice president and general manager, product marketing, software, HP, in a statement. “With HP APM, operations teams gain the necessary insight into every transaction, thereby reducing costs and ensuring peak application performance at all times.”

Two organizations currently benefitting from HP APM software includes Vodafone Ireland and HP channel partner J9 Technologies. Both, Vodafone (News - Alert) Ireland and J9 Technologies, are leveraging HP APM software modules to proactively monitor their performance of IT infrastructure and application offerings, such as cloud and mobile.

As a committed communications solutions provider, Vodafone Ireland selected HP APM software modules to monitor performance of applications across traditional, mobile, virtual and cloud environments.

According to Vodafone Ireland, the company achieved a return on investment of 300 percent; earned annual savings of $769,237 USD, including the retirement of third-party service-monitoring tools; increased customer satisfactionby 65 percent; and improved service quality by 125 percent across the portfolio – all within 18 months of deployment.

“Our IT Operations group was once perceived as introspective, reactive and technology focused,” said Shane Gaffney, head, IT operations, Vodafone Ireland. “HP APM has enabled transformation of our IT organization and allowed us to shift from keeping the lights on to proactively managing applications performance.”

Another organization leveraging HP APM is J9 Technologies, which offers specialized IT services to technology adopters in North America. Some of its services include application development, implementation, application hosting and Software as a Service (SaaS (News - Alert)).

According to J9, it was in need of software that provided deep application diagnostics, enterprise-class event management and incident tracking. So, it chose HP APM that provided these features.

In addition, HP APM has also helped J9 to work with its customers’ operations and development teams to pursue DevOps opportunities that help efficiently test applications and identify key performance indicators used for monitoring. This enables the operations teams to quickly identify and resolve application performance issues, avoiding costly service disruptions and reducing IT spend.

Clay Roach, president and chief executive officer, J9 Technologies, said in a statement, “HP APM tools are enabling our customers to quickly adapt to technology changes and help prevent application performance and availability issues.”
