The Philippine government's desire to grow in the business process outsourcing market alongside its Asian counterparts in China, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea is generating a major push toward knowledge process outsourcing.

In a recent interview, Sutherland Global Services (News - Alert) Chairman Dillip Vellodi said there are some huge opportunities for the Philippines in this market, considering the line of global companies looking for highly skilled people to do special jobs such as business analytics and human resources.

Outsourcing business operations is growing into a multibillion-dollar industry, and expanding high-speed networks are making that business a viable option for emerging markets like the Philippines.

Vellodi hinted that the Philippines is experiencing double digit growth in knowledge process outsourcing though an exact figure eluded him. "The growth will be there in the foreseeable future,” the chairman said. “The opportunities are there and we will have to develop the talent available so they can be employable."

Taking a page out of China's manufacturing book, the Philippines have erected a campus style workplace, from which to chase the outsourcing revenue that the Philippine government longs for. The groundbreaking for the new campus saw President Aquino, Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo and Vellodi as honored guests.

Sutherland Global Services has a total workforce of 13,000 in several locations throughout the Philippines, such as Carmona (600), Camarines Sur (1,800), Clark (2,500), Davao City (2,800), Makati City (400), Quezon City (600), Taguig City (4,000) and Tarlac City (800) – and is growing much to the joy of the Philippine economy.
