The Workflow Management Coalition (WFMC), BPM.com, and Future Strategies Inc. announced the winners of their 2011 Excellence Awards in BPM and Workflow. These awards recognize user organizations that have excelled in implementing innovative business process solutions and in doing so have met strategic business objectives.

Nathaniel Palmer, industry analyst and executive director of the Workflow Management Coalition, presented the awards at a ceremony held on December 19, 2011. The award ceremony recognized organizations in Europe, North America, Middle East/Africa, Pacific Rim, and South and Central America.

In a presentation given by Palmer, he said the WFMC looked at three things: innovation, implementation, and impact. “Innovation use of BPM technology to solve unique problems, creative and successful implementation of the advanced BPM concepts…successful BPM and/or workflow implementation methodology…and impact of the system on competitive positioning in the marketplace [were all looked at],” Palmer said in a presentation.

Palmer said the industry is starting to show some trends for big data and event processing, mobile applications, and process integration.
