Monitoring IT environments is essential, as a continuous check on temperature, humidity, power and other parameters help IT admin staff to prevent downtime, which will otherwise affect productivity. Downtime in IT environments even during system upgrades is reduced to a minimum. Manually monitoring various elements of the environment constituting of computers, racks, air conditioners and the room itself is time consuming.
The new HW Group Posedion2 products have been designed especially for remote monitoring IT environments over the Ethernet. The Poseidon2 3266/3268 devices can log measured data, monitor temperature, humidity and voltage in addition to monitoring detector states or DI inputs and at least eight other externals sensors and 4 detectors.
Enabling a new generation of remote sensor monitoring over the LAN, both the devices are designed to send alarm E-mails when any of the readings go beyond the allowed safe range. The devices can also be connected to other monitoring systems. The system allows many Poseidon2 devices to send alarm SMS messages via a shared HWg-SMS-GW.
According to officials these devices contain an inner memory or data logger which is compatible with any SNMP system. They are most useful in measuring and monitoring temperature at several points such as in freezers, refrigerators and in air conditioning equipment.
The Poseidon2 3268 monitoring device features 2 relay outputs and is hence capable of sending an alarm E-mail or SMS. The same system can be used in a cooling system or a ventilation system to monitor if the temperature remains within limits. It can also be used in switching air conditioners for ventilating racks, to detect open doors and to control electronic locks. Along with camera systems the devices can be used to switch on lights in some areas and for opening and closing of gates.
After obtaining the measured data such as temperature, the devices send the data to a cloud portal. Both the Poseidon devices find many applications in industry.
When the Poseidon2 devices are connected to the online SensDesk.com portal, users are able to view all the sensors in a Web browser like in cloud applications. The connected Poseidon2 devices can be installed in various places and can be monitored using iOS and Android (News - Alert) applications on smartphones.
