USA Mobility Introduces PageSync For BlackBerry users
By Narayan Bhat, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Wireless communication solutions provider USA Mobility (News - Alert), Inc. has unveiled a handheld version of PageSync, a paging solution for customers of Research In Motion’s BlackBerry phones.
Alexandria, Virginia-based company has scheduled the commercial launch of its new product for the month of March.
In December, Mobility announced the release of an enterprise version of PageSync that uses software provided by Onset Technology to integrate (or synchronize) devices between RIM’s network infrastructure and USA Mobility’s PageSync service. This time Mobility has introduced handheld version for the popular smartphone from RIM. Unlike the enterprise version, Mobility says, the handheld version can be used on both BlackBerry (News - Alert) as well as other SMS -enabled smartphones, allowing handsets download an application directly from its website.
The handheld version’s key features include special pager alerts, reminder alerts, as well as confirmation of message delivery. However, the special feature of this new application is that it allows users to receive pages from multiple sources, identify the source of an incoming page, track message delivery, and send longer messages in alternative formats.
“We believe PageSync is well suited to customers in core market segments of Healthcare, Government and Large Enterprise, as well as first responder organizations of any kind, many of whom rely heavily on both paging and cellular communications to meet their varied and timely communications requirements.” said Vincent D. Kelly, president and chief executive officer.
