RadiSys, manufacturer of embedded computing products based on ATCA and other standards, announced Monday that its Convedia Software Media Server won the 2007 NXTcomm (News - Alert) EOS Award for best application layer systems in the technology innovation group category. The company was on of only 12 recognized, out of more than 100 applicants, for helping to advance communications and entertainment technology.

 

Convedia Software Media Server is a relative newcomer to RadiSys’ product line; it was introduced earlier this month. This product is based on the same technology RadiSys uses in its hardware media servers, but provides equipment manufacturers and independent vendors with an entry-level solution that addresses the growing trend toward ATCA- and Linux-based products and platforms.

 

RadiSys designed its software media server to complement Convedia CMS-3000 and Convedia CMS-9000 hardware products. It’s currently available with the Promentum ATCA-4300 dual-core Xeon compute processing module, and with IBM’s (News - Alert) System x3550 server.

 

The features and functions of Convedia Software Media Server are made possible by RadiSys’ eXtended Media Processing technology, which the company uses as the foundation for delivering carrier-class IP media processing capabilities for all its hardware and software products.

This week at the NXTcomm show in Chicago (June 18-21, 2007), is taking a prominent role as a leader in the embedded solutions market. Experts from the company will be sharing with attendees details regarding the latest solutions available to address market demands for proven, performance-oriented products that can be used to build next-generation, high-bandwidth network elements.

 

RadiSys’ booth at the show is #4137; there the company is demonstrating a Convedia Software Media server running on a Promentum ATCA-4300 Compute Module. This setup showcases the media processing capabilities of RadiSys products for video applications like conferencing, announcement, ringback tones and mail.
