During the past 12-18 months, IP
Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) took front stage in the IP communications industry. These architectures promise to enable faster, cheaper delivery of new services.
Yet, many service providers are struggling to understand the mechanisms of, and justify the cost associated with, IMS
deployments. Two sessions at the upcoming Internet Telephony Conference & EXPO East—both co-presented by RadiSys Senior Manager of Product Marketing, Ray Adensamer—will scratch beneath the surface of IMS to address the issues described above.
The first session, “IMS in the Enterprise” (10:30-11:15 a.m. on Jan. 24, 2007), will review the similarities and differences of carrier vs enterprise IP telecommunication requirements, discuss carrier deployments and benefits of IMS architectures, and then position how IMS can provide similar value and benefits in Enterprise service deployments.
The second session, “Intro to Fixed-Mobile Convergence” (9:00-9:45 a.m. on Jan. 26, 2007), will explore how services bridging the gap between fixed and mobile networks are becoming lead drivers for IMS deployments. Included in the discussion will be a look at the latest technical and architectural developments being used to bring converged services to market using an IMS approach.
