RadiSys, a provider of AdvancedTCA (News - Alert) solutions for the communications networking and commercial systems markets, has won a 2007 Communications Solutions Product of the Year Award for its Promentum ATCA-7220 and Promentum MPCBL0050 products. These awards are given to the most innovative products that facilitate voice, data and video communications, or combinations thereof.
Featuring the Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor LV 5138, the RadiSys (News - Alert) MPCBL0050 single board computer (SBC
) combines Intel 64 Technology+ (Intel 64) with dual-core, dual processing capabilities for a total of four processor cores on a single platform. This fifth-generation product provides performance boost, superior subsystem scalability and density.
This fifth-generation design achieves significant performance improvements for compute-intensive and database-access applications including IP
Multimedia Subsystems (IMS), wireless control plane, and IPTV (News - Alert). RadiSys Promentum MPCBL0050 is optimized to support first-generation AdvancedTCA chassis that limit front-board power to less than 200W. In addition, the product also interoperates with AdvancedTCA products from RadiSys and with third-party building blocks meeting the PICMG 3.0 specification.
RadiSys has also won the award for its Promentum ATCA-7220, an AdvancedTCA packet processing blade that provides highest available Gigabit Ethernet
density and throughput. This product incorporates two Cavium Networks (News - Alert) OCTEON Plus multi-core processors boasting a powerful architecture to be used for intense packet processing application with or without I/O. On-board 10 Gigabit and 1 Gigabit Ethernet switching allows powerful and flexible data flow for sophisticated security processing and traffic handling.
Thanks to its AdvancedTCA form factor, the ATCA-7220 is ideal for use in carrier grade network elements such as security, media gateways and high bandwidth RNC and other network elements in wireless and broadband infrastructure.
According to TMC (News - Alert) Group Editorial Director, Greg Galitzine, the Product of the Year Awards exemplifies the best this industry has to offer. He said that the selected winners have demonstrated a commitment to quality and the continued development of the communications industry.
“These winners deserve this distinction, and I look forward to seeing other innovative solutions from them as they continue to contribute to the future of the communications industry,” he added.
