UNICOM (News - Alert) Engineering, a division of UNICOM Global specializing in application platforms and lifecycle support, has announced a number of key enhancements to give its customers better management tools and capabilities. The goal is to aid clients in managing their various lifecycles more predictably, and UNICOM is doing this through strategic re-investments across a range of business units.
The company spent the past year rolling out programs to facilitate process enhancements for customers, including helping them improve their response rates and streamlining service alignment. UNICOM is an IBM (News - Alert) Premier Partner and IBM factored heavily into the company’s expansion strategy.
UNICOM acquired a number of IBM brands and solutions during the past year, including the Focal Point Product Portfolio and Program Management solution, the PurifyPlus software analysis tool offering and the Cognos (News - Alert) Finance technology. An additional key acquisition included the IBM solidDB in-memory relational database management system. The acquisitions all came with entrenched customer bases and partnership networks, adding up to a giant expansion and enhancement effort for UNICOM.
“In 2014, we demonstrated our continued commitment to delivering the products and solutions our customers need through new systems, facility improvements and deployment services responding to a constantly evolving industry,” said Jeff Hudgins (News - Alert), vice president of marketing at UNICOM Engineering. “As always, our goal is to develop internal standards and systems that put our teams in the best position possible to provide our customers with the expert guidance necessary to confidently manage their application deployment needs.”
Moving forward, the company is focusing on a number of areas including IT infrastructure enhancements through improved disaster recovery and BCP capabilities. UNICOM is also building out its flexible manufacturing environment to aid customers with supply chain optimization. The company achieves this through expansion of facilities in Ireland and Massachusetts by nearly 50 percent.
Other areas of focus include lifecycle management, with upgrades to tools and programs to help clients improve the accuracy of their reporting component lifecycles. UNICOM also expanded its flexible production capabilities in response to customers’ evolving requirements. And in a bid to improve efficiencies, the company rolled out a Transition Launch Review system to handle cross-functional communication needs across all lifecycle phases.
