Enterprise mobile IT spending is going up, according to a recent Oracle (News - Alert) survey, and security is still a top concern for everyone that uses it. In fact, mobile-related IT expenses are predicted to jump more than 50 percent in two years, the survey reveals.
Undertaken by CIO Strategic Marketing Services and Triangle Publishing Services, the survey, "The Connected Enterprise: Keeping Pace with Mobile Development” shows that security is a top concern for enterprise adoption. Bring your own device (BYOD) to the workplace makes this even more of an issue, eWeek reported. Some 93 percent of respondents to the survey noted their concern over data loss and security breaches, as they relate to mobile devices.
When it comes to enterprises and mobile devices, they must meet the needs of employees and improve their productivity, and also meet the needs of customers as well.
Another issue relates to enterprise-wide deployment of mobile devices. “Mobility has been ubiquitous for a while but only 10 percent of enterprises have an enterprise wide deployment of mobile,” Suhas Uliyar, vice president of mobile strategy and product management at Oracle, said in a statement. “Its impact and adoption are gaining importance today. This survey is reassuring in that enterprises see potential for great payoff from making a strong mobile commitment. They are recognizing that mobile applications provide a new way to develop and maintain relationships with customers. Oracle’s mobile solutions allow organizations to develop, connect and secure their own mobile applications.”
The survey also revealed that over the next two years organizations responding will concentrate more on device data encryption (10 percent increase), have more centralized updating and troubleshooting (11 percent increase), have more remote wiping of data (11 percent increase) and will allow for more lockdown of features (18 percent increase).
It was also shown that more than 70 percent of IT development time is spent on design, integration, quality assurance testing and security, eWeek reported.
IT department spending on each device, per employee, is now $157, and that will jump to $242 over the next two years, an increase of 54 percent, the survey showed.
When considering these trends, businesses may want to consider Unicom’s application deployment efforts.
Tech providers need to think about a mix of cloud, virtual and physical deployment models, the company said. UNICOM (News - Alert) Engineering lets applications make it to market quicker and more economically. UNICOM Engineering has developed the LEAD (Lifecycle Engine for Application Deployment) system to meet the challenges associated with getting an application to market.
