In the broader telecommunications industry, the demand for access to key solutions continues to expand. Providers want a bigger piece of the subscriber pie and users want access to applications and technologies that deliver greater value for the dollar. With the right focus on application deployment, both sides can get what they want.
To that end, GENBAND (News - Alert) has announced that Conneaut Telephone Company has selected key components of the company’s SMART Core to expand its offerings to include the latest IP business services. GENBAND is a developer of multimedia and cloud communications solutions, and Conneaut Telephone services customers in northeastern Ohio.
As part of this move, Conneaut selected the C15 Call Session Controller to enable the provider to offer hosted applications and business voice to operations of all sizes. At the same time, Conneaut is supporting triple play offerings for cable and residential customers over a robust fiber optic network.
“The GENBAND C15 provides the perfect blend of technology we need to retain our legacy TDM-copper customers, while helping us ramp up a new, IP-centric product line for enterprise customers and for residential fiber-to-the-home build-outs,” said Ken Johnson, General Manager, Conneaut Telephone Company, in a statement. “The flexibility of GENBAND’s SMART CORE solution has enabled us to vault over the competition and the virtual IP PBX (News - Alert) deployment is already showing strong results, having delivered our first major enterprise customer.”
The C15 has already been widely deployed and supports a wide variety of standard interfaces, protocols and features so as to simultaneously support both legacy and IP services. Providers seeking to bridge older technology with today’s IP-based offerings can leverage the IMS-ready call session controller. The offering is ideally designed for small and medium-sized service providers determined to focus on a future-proof business model.
By enhancing their service offering with the application deployment of the GENBAND C15, the Conneaut Telephone Company has positioned itself to deliver advanced applications and provide a solid value proposition to the current subscriber base. At the same time, enterprise customers gain incremental advanced communications services value and reduced overall costs associated with a hosted offering.
A UNICOM (News - Alert) customer, GENBAND continues to deliver value to the telecommunications market by enabling service providers to deliver the solutions their customers demand. Through application deployment and understanding the very real challenges presented to legacy networks in an IP world, GENBAND is meeting a growing need to ensure enough competition sticks around to keep the game fun.
