Apple’s (News - Alert) Device Enrollment Program (DEP) helps educational facilities get all of their owned devices enrolled in an MDM solution, without having to even touch the device. For MDM providers like Lightspeed Systems, getting in with the program now was just as important for their customers, so the company announced that its solution is fully integrated into Apple’s DEP.
Schools will have more control, ease of management, and increased functionality of their mobile learning program.
“Schools have been asking for these capabilities,” shares Rob Chambers, VP of Product Development at Lightspeed Systems. “We’re excited that with the new Apple DEP program, we are able to continue to meet the needs of schools deploying iOS devices.”
Schools usually never do anything on a small scale, and that includes the recent boom in “bring your own device” (BYOD) initiatives. From smartphones to tablets and iPads, mobile device management (MDM) has never been more vital for a successful school BYOD program.
Schools using the MDM from Lightspeed Systems can implement all of the benefits of this integration now. By following a few simple clicks in Mobile Manager, devices can be enrolled, configured, and ready to be used for learning.
Apple's (DEP) takes away the need to touch each device to ensure that it is fully managed and locked down. It offers the ability to configure iOS devices as supervised without using Apple Configurator, allowing for over-the-air management with these device management capabilities.
Mobile devices can now be enrolled in Lightspeed Systems’ Mobile Manager wirelessly with policies already in place, ensuring devices get out of the box and into the hands of students and teachers more quickly and efficiently.
With an MDM solution in place, IT administrators can securely enroll devices in an education environment, configure and update settings, set restrictions, and install apps.
