Appliance deployment platforms provide software vendors with options to deploy their applications as either physical, virtual or hybrid for private, public and mixed environments.
Recently, appliance deployment pro NEI (News - Alert) penned a blog post that discussed the importance of not only having appliances, but being able to ensure that they are increasingly reliable. Due to the fact that these platforms are utilized to run critical data storage, security, and communications applications, it is vital that these appliances are continuously monitored and provide alerts when additional support is needed.
With NEI’s Health Manager, users can gain much more in-depth diagnostic information that will prove successful for future physical and virtual applications platforms. By enabling customers to monitor and analyze the conditions of essential hardware components including CPUs, power supplies and disk drives, this solution also provides easy access to software behavior, performance conditions, and error statuses.
Additionally, the appliance deployment provider’s Alarm manger, which is free of cost, is comprised of a broad array of both alarms and conditional displays that can be seamlessly integrated with Linux or Microsoft (News - Alert) operating systems to allow customers to use one simple interface for Health Manager. “To expedite the service response and delivery of application updates, system patches, entitlements and manifests, Alarm Manager is best applied with NEI’s Update Service. This enables customers and end-users to better manage their system assets with greater integrity and longevity,” according to the post.
Last month, TMCnet reported that at RSA (News - Alert) Conference 2012, NEI showed its Sandy Bridge-based appliance deployment solution, which has been developed from the ground up to offer security in on-premise and virtual appliance solutions. The appliance deployment provider also demonstrated how its health monitoring solutions and update management solutions work as integral parts of its application management portfolio at the event.
