NEI Offers Valuable Tools to Support Appliance Deployment

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Companies heavily rely on the health of their networks to support business processes, keep users connected, support applications and even drive communications. NEI (News - Alert) takes an innovative approach to application management and appliance deployment, ensuring the delivery of network-ready, lifecycle-managed appliance deployment platforms.

This approach to appliance deployment ensures the delivery of a scalable solution that will proactively resolve complexities through the use of automatic updates, health monitoring and image backups. NEI also allows independent software vendors and OEMs to develop and implement secure and highly managed solutions across virtual, physical or cloud environments.

NEI’s Element Manager allows for the centralization of application control with OS and patch deployment automation, delivery acceleration, and support process creation to enable OEMs and ISVs to leverage a competitive advantage in the market.

End users benefit from this approach to appliance deployment, as the health, update and backup capabilities make appliances easier to support and maintain. The complexities associated with maintaining security and reliability of applications including updating, monitoring, tracking and backing up deployments, are solved with NEI’s comprehensive approach to application management. To enhance the integrity, longevity and performance of the deployed network applications, Element Manager is bundled with NEI’s Windows Hardening or Linux Packaging Service.

NEI takes its approach to appliance deployment to the next level with its comprehensive lifecycle management. This approach streamlines all phases of the application lifecycle, including image design and development, network integration, maintenance, and technical support, in order to accelerate overall deployment.

Accelerated deployments enable greater management control and the creation of additional marketable features and services. When application deployment is managed with NEI, ISVs and OEMs are able to solve complex go-to-market challenges; create new products with marketable differentiation, and service opportunities; extend application and appliance lifecycles; scale for the virtual, physical or cloud market; and increase ROI, while reducing engineering and support costs.

To extend the value of its appliance deployment solutions NEI also offers the Alarm Manager Starter Kit. This kit includes the tools and capabilities necessary to create a full range of alarms and conditional settings, and is designed for quick and easy integration in both Windows and Linux environments. Customers can easily leverage quick-start alarm programming and create a seamless interface for NEI’s Health Manager.

One of the challenges in appliance deployment today is the platform stability and scalability demanded by software application developers. They need the ability to leverage new delivery methods, some with requirements to run instances seamlessly across virtualized environments, public or private clouds, or dedicated appliances. Each delivery method demands robust application and an OS configuration apparatus to ensure secure, repeatable deployments.
