Citrix Launches CloudBridge CSX Solution

By Mandira Srivastava, TMCnet Contributor

Enterprise IT vendor Citrix recently announced release of its CloudBridge CSX solution, powered by the new CloudBridge 2000WS appliance.

The company explained that professionals are increasingly adopting cloud-based architectures and leveraging third-party providers to lower costs and achieve better scalability. One of the challenges in doing so is upholding the application experience for branch office employees while containing infrastructure costs. As a result, IT managers normally keep servers at the branch to ensure that specific services are still delivered locally.  The new solution is designed to eliminate the need to maintain such branch servers, offering significant cost reductions.

Equipped with full wide area network (WAN) optimization capabilities, the new CloudBridge appliance helps consolidate the number of physical servers needed at a branch location with a new, pre-configured Windows Server.

The CloudBridge CSX Solution combines the new CloudBridge appliance with applications offered by partners Qumu, Talon and Cortado (News - Alert) to offer the most critical services required at the branch - video distribution and streaming, multi-site file collaboration, and localized print services.

Vern Hanzlik, senior vice president and general manager at Qumu, Inc., said in a statement, “The advanced Citrix software architecture allows us to turn the CloudBridge 2000WS appliance into a powerful live webcasting and video on-demand delivery machine. With advanced caching, stream splitting, and delivery intelligence, the Qumu solution for Citrix enables enterprises to make video a central part of their global communications infrastructure.”

Alongside the new appliance, Citrix has announced new “Citrix Ready” validations. The new “Citrix Ready CSX for CloudBridge” designation will be used to indicate a tested and validated integration with CloudBridge. The Citrix Ready category is designed to minimize risk for joint customers when deploying partner solutions with CloudBridge.

Qumu, Talon and Cortado are the first partners to be verified “Citrix Ready CSX for CloudBridge.” With starting price of $22,000, CloudBridge 2000WS is available immediately through these Citrix Ready-verified partners.
